Mercer men’s tennis finished as Region 19 Runner-Ups losing by just one point to Region Champion RCSJ Gloucester 14-13. With the second place finish, the team qualified for the NJCAA Division II National Tournament being held in Plano, Texas May 11th-15th.
Mercer had three players finish as Region Champions in Singles flights and one Doubles team. Freshman Joe Zemaitis (East Brunswick, NJ/East Brunswick HS) was Region Champion at 1st Singles with a 6-2, 7-5 win at the top flight. Freshman Adeleke Oni (Burlington, MD) won the 3rs Singles Championship in three sets 6-2, 4-6, 7-6 (3). Freshman Dylan Stemmer (Columbus, NJ/Northern Burlington) was 5th Singles Champion with a 6-2, 6-1 win in the championship. Zemaitis and freshman Jose Valencia (Quito, Ecuador) won 6-4, 7-6 (4) at 1st Doubles.
